Reporting database errors

These two entries can be combined into one: Brickbat Herald
  1. This heraldic title was registered to Society for Creative Anachronism at some point and transferred to Marta as-tu Mika-Mysliwy in June of 2007 (via Laurel).
  2. This heraldic title was registered to Society for Creative Anachronism in December of 1991 (via Laurel).

The May 2006 LoAR has:

Vatavia, Barony of. Badge. Per bend sinister Or and azure, a harp and a dragonfly inverted counterchanged.

Per precedent (q.v. George Anne, 05/2002), a dragonfly inverted is one step from period practice. This badge is for local bards.

The forms also have the note about this being a badge for local bards. Can this note get added to the OandA? entry for this badge?

Got it...

Under: http://oanda.sca.org/oanda_desc.cgi?p=PALE%3avert%3aplain%20line%3acharged%3a1 is:
  1. Michael von Fulda

    * The following device associated with this name was registered in May of 2007 (via Atlantia):
Azure, on a pale argent between two lightning bolts palewise Or a gauntlet clenched sable.

This isn't a pale vert; it needs to be moved to be with the other pales argent. :-)

This one has no features on any of the descriptions. The pale has no tincture specified, so it matches any tincture. There are items with incomplete or inadequate indexing. This one shouldn't have been one.

Under: http://oanda.sca.org/oanda_desc.cgi?p=BIRD%3aazure%3aclose%20to%20dexter%3a1 is:
  1. Anthony fitz Robert

    * The following device associated with this name was registered in September of 1991 (via the West):
Per fess Or and vert, on a pale counterchanged, between in chief two martlets, in base a martlet vert.

The marlets are vert; this needs to be moved. :-)

...and they were not marked with any tincture, so they would show up under any tincture, including vert.

The OandA? index has Hippocampus - see Monster - Sea - Horse but it should really be cross-referenced to Fish - Seahorse.

...it shoudl go both places, as Hippocampus is ambiguous

There's something wonky going on here:
  1. James Blackhawk

    * This name was registered in February of 1985 (via An Tir).
    * The following device associated with this name was registered in July of 1983 (via An Tir):
Per bend argent and sable, two falcon's heads erased counterchanged.
    * This name, registered in July of 1983 (via An Tir), was changed to James the Blackhawk in September of 1983 (via An Tir).

...and it was changed back to James Blackhawk in February of 1985. Yeah, it's weird, but, well, it's weird.

This shows up under TORCH, but there's no torch in it -- a flamberge is a wavy-bladed sword:

  1. Hrothgar Rogan
    * The following device associated with this name was registered in November of 1991 (via the East):
Per bend sinister engrailed argent and gules, a flamberge and a lion rampant counterchanged.

Fixed -- Herveus

This shows up under BEND:argent:plain line:charged:1, but as far as I can tell, the bend is Or.

  1. Fearghus mac Domhnaill
    * The following device associated with this name was registered in July of 2006 (via Atlantia):
Azure, on a bend Or between two bears rampant argent three sheaves of arrows palewise sable.

Fixed -- Herveus

JML (12/30/08): The O&A shows:
  1. Egil Nöckl the Redhand

    * The following device associated with this name was registered in August of 2006 (via Atlantia):
Or, a goat rampant between in fess two roundels gules.
    * The following device associated with this name was registered at some point and reblazoned in August of 2006 (via Atlantia):
Or, a goat rampant between two roundels gules.
    * The following device associated with this name was registered in February of 1991 (via Atlantia):
Or, a goat rampant between two roundels gules.
The middle bullet should go away - this was a reblazon of the Feb. 1991 registration, and as far as I can tell there is no difference in the blazons that would require errata to correct.

Fixed -- Herveus

Doing a search for my own name gets all my registrations, plus:

  1. Aryanhwy merch Catmael
    * An unknown record (type=`W') was found in the database.

Is this my heraldic will?

Yes. W indicates an heraldic will as called out on an LoAR.

Catteden, Canton of The following device associated with this name was registered in July of 2005 (via the Middle): Argent, a demi-cat sable issuant from a base azure, in dexter chief a laurel wreath vert.

This seems to be indexed under CAT:azure:1, not CAT:sable:1

oops. Fixed -- Herveus

Theo the Pilose (reg. 1/1976), Argent, a bicorporate dragon, tails in chief, azure, bellied vert, armed and langued gules.

is listed under Monster - Dragon - 1. Precedent indicates that a bi- or tri-corporate create is considered to count as two or three, not one:

"Emer ingen Meic Aedain. Name and badge. Argent, three foxes courant in annulo conjoined at the feet gules. This badge is returned for conflict with Richard Blackbury's device, Argent, a tricorporate fox gules, marked proper. [Vulpes vulpes]. A tricorporate fox has three bodies with a single head. We typically do not grant a CD for conjoined versus not conjoined, therefore there is only a single CD for the postures of the foxes (courant versus erect). [LoAR 09/2006]"

So shouldn't Theo's be under Monster - Dragon - 2?

Yep...moved - Herveus

  1. Custance nic Raibert Macconnachie
     * The following badge associated with this name was registered in December of 1990 (via Ansteorra):
(Fieldless) A lily-of-the-valley [Muset de Bois] slipped and leaved proper.
? same person as Custance nic Ralbert Macconnachie
  1. Custance nic Ralbert Macconnachie
     * This name was registered in October of 1987 (via Ansteorra).
The following device associated with this name was registered in October of 1987 (via Ansteorra):
Purpure, on a pale Or three frets conjoined gules, all within a bordure Or.

These are the same person. The LoAR of October 1987 lists the Raibert spelling, not the Ralbert typo; error in the database, not on the LoAR.

Fixed -- Herveus
